James Fearnley, once of The Pogues and now of The Walker Roaders, is an old friend of mine. Here, in my apartment, we are recording James laying down his original part for “Waltz,” the next single and video from SHOT OF BLUE. It’s all very high-tech.
His accordion sounds amazing on the track and adds a cool, edgy beauty to it.
I first met James in 1994 at an impromptu reading of the just-completed script of Living In Oblivion. His wife, Danielle Von Zerneck, was brilliant as Wanda, the 1st AD. We read around the dining room table at Catherine Keener and Dermot Mulroney’s house in LA. We didn’t have enough people to read all the parts, so James came over and agreed to read Tito, the sullen dwarf annoyed that he’d been cast in a dream sequence.
I had no idea what to expect. All I know is that I have never laughed harder from the moment he opened his mouth.
I’m so thrilled James lent his great talent to “Waltz.” And he’s going to be in the video with me.
